Dear Fellow Therapists,
"A New Year for Us All: Reflections and Resolutions for Therapists"
While I typically celebrate my personal “new year” on my birthday, today I join you in welcoming a happy, blessed, and prosperous new calendar year. This time of year, invites us to reflect—not just on the goals we’ve set professionally but also on how we’re caring for ourselves as therapists, as individuals, and as humans striving to grow.
As we guide others through their journeys, let’s also give ourselves permission to pause and evaluate our own. What worked for you last year? What needs adjusting? And most importantly, what’s one thing you can do to care for yourself better this year?
Here are three reflections and resolutions I’m carrying into the new year that I’d like to share with you:
Celebrate small wins: In a field that often feels like a marathon, let’s acknowledge the small, daily victories—for ourselves and our clients.
Set boundaries with grace: Prioritize what matters most, knowing it’s okay to say “no” when it means saying “yes” to your well-being.
Stay curious and open: Therapy evolves, and so do we. Commit to learning, adapting, and embracing the opportunities for growth in both life and practice.
To my fellow therapists, I wish you a year filled with clarity, self-compassion, and the courage to grow. Let’s continue to do the work that not only heals others but also nurtures us. Cheers to a new year of purpose and progress!
What are your resolutions for this year? I’d love to hear how you plan to grow—drop them in the comments!
Wishing you all wellness and growth,
Jinia
